On a scale of 1- 10, today’s weather is at about a 10,000. The sunny skies and warming temperature have me ready to pack up my puffy winter coats and break out spring’s must have jacket: The Anorak. This sporty jacket traditionally worn as a weatherproofing piece is now the pièce de résistance of the season.
Now, just because anoraks are in doesn’t mean you can whip out that number you’ve had since 1992. Remember that Gap jacket you could fold up and put inside your back pack? Yeah, don’t wear that.
The updated anorak still pays homage to its original utilitarian style with pockets and zipper galore. But the longer length and nipped-in waist are far more flattering than the boxy cut of the past. Plus, details like a structural collar and belt elevate the jacket so it feels more like a stylish over piece and less like rain gear.
Have fun with this jacket and pair it with the unexpected. Throw it on over a girly little floral dress or wear it in place of a blazer if your office allows business casual. That mixing of masculine and feminine is a totally chic style statement.
