Ahoy, matey

Resort is in stores full force this month and I couldn’t be happier than a sailor at sunset!  I’m a total sucker for stripes – especially ones of the blue and white persuasion. Nautical styling is easy to go over board with though, so let’s go over a few ways to keep your look modern:

*mix stripes with floral prints à la Marc Jacobs and Derek Lam

*add a metallic belt or shoe for some extra pop

* throw an oversized men’s shirt over your striped tank to give the look a casual-cool feel

*limit overly nautical pieces to one per outfit – pare down your seaside attire with simple, preppy pieces like a skinny white jean, anorak jacket, simple white tee, denim shorts or jacket.

As I’ve pointed out in my last post, its crazy cold these days. So, how do we get all nautical-ed up in our new resort gear when it feels like an Arctic Blast outside? Layers! Think ribbed tights, oversized men’s shirts, belted nubby cardigans and super soft waffle shirts.
